Posts from June 2009

In light of these economic times I am considerably aware of my colleagues that have hit on hard times. It is undeniable that what has happened has hit each and every one of us. Many of my good friends who have been editing for years have recently been laid off, and many photographers have had to give up their studios in order to downsize. This being said, I feel that this sets the stage for a lot of creativity to come. With budgets being thinned, and an emphasis on still standing out, there is hope that a lot of creative expression (especially in the photographic field) has yet to occur, and will do so at a more grass roots level. I look forward to what the rest of the year brings, the perspectives people have to offer, and the possible artistic movements in the making.

The Challenges That Befall Us

The Challenges That Befall Us

Having just become stationary for more or less than 10 seconds, it’s nice to reflect back on the past two weeks and know that when all the traveling is said and done, that wonderful imagery will stand the test of time. Having photographed more than 180 contestants at the recent 2009 WBMC (World Beard and Moustache Championships) in Anchorage, Alaska, and then traveling off to Toronto, Canada to photograph some of the most financially influential business men in the world makes one appreciate the vast opportunities afforded by the photographic field. Meeting and working with people from the broad spectrum of life helps me appreciate the facets by which people live their lives, and briefly let me in to share it. I truly look forward to the new projects that are on the horizon, and those whom I will meet along the way.
